This week was not a good one for Pipeline 2008 Boys Red. The team ended up on the wrong side of the score in the game against Coppermine Bulls.
The game began with each team swapping possessions for the first few minutes. Pipeline’s opponent scored first with a hard shot into the left corner of Pipeline’s goal. Score Coppermine 1 Pipeline 0.
A few possessions later, a hard shot struck Pipeline’s goalkeeper over his left eye. He was unable to play the rest of the game. The ball that took him from the game went out for a goal kick. Adding insult to injury, they scored off the corner kick. Them 2 Pipeline 0.
Pipeline fought hard and finally put one into the goal. Unfortunately, they scored two more times making the score Coppermine 4 Pipeline 1.
Pipeline suffered two more scores from their corner kicks in the first half to go with two goals from outside the penalty box while Pipeline managed one more score against Coppermine’s strong defense. Coppermine 8 Pipeline 2.
The second half saw an improved defensive play by Pipeline against a storming Coppermine offense. Pipeline held them to three more goals against one for Pipeline. The game ended Coppermine 11 Pipeline 3.
The team gained valuable experience against a more talented team. Commend them for their continued hard play throughout the game.
Next game is against the BSC/Green team which also has four wins and two losses. Go Pipeline!
